History of
Divine Mercy
In
the evening of February 1932, Jesus appeared to Sister Faustina in her cell
in the convent of the Congregation of The Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy at
Plock. Jesus stepped towards her, His right hand raised in blessing; the
left drawing aside the garment at His breast, from which shone forth two
rays: one red, the other pale.
Jesus asked Faustina to have a
painting made according to what she could see, and have it signed
"Jesus I Trust In You!". This painting
has become known the world over as the Image of Divine Mercy. The details of
the apparition can be read in the diary of Sister Faustina: Divine Mercy in
My Soul. Contained in the diary is a journal of Sister Faustina's encounters
with the Lord, and her spiritual journey.
