Deacon Carl Cramer
Deacon Carl was born on November 16, 1954 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota of parents Raymond and Florence Cramer. He was Baptized the following year at St. Stephen Parish in Minneapolis. Deacon Carl and family worshipped at St. Raphael Parish in Crystal, MN. Deacon Carl has earned a Doctorate in Education specializing in Curriculum and Instruction from Kansas State University. Deacon Carl met his spouse Vicki in graduate school at KSU; they married in 1987 and he graduated with his Ed.D. in 1990. He was retained that year as a Professor in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. Deacon Carl is presently Associate Dean of the School of Human Performance and Leisure Sciences at Barry. He has almost 40 years of experience in Athletic Training Education.
Deacon Carl and family joined St. Edward and he served as a member of the music ministry singing at Masses since 1995. Deacon Carl also served assisting with Baptisms, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, Life in the Spirit, the Social Justice Cluster, and as a Tribunal Advocate. After three years of prayer and discernment, Deacon Carl applied and was accepted into the Deacon Formation for the Archdiocese of Miami, followed four years of formation, while continuing to serve on the faculty at Barry University. He was Ordained to the Order of Deacon at the Cathedral of St. Mary by Archbishop Favalora on June 11, 2005 and was assigned to St. Edward Parish.
